Hi Everyone, In here I hope you will add your family stories. I have added a couple of mine at the following link: Family Stories. I hope to add more stories in the near future. My stories are not great or grand and yours don't have to be either unless you want them to be. Hope you enjoy this forum and I hope you share your family stories from long ago and from recent events with us. To add your story, you can either click on the "Reply" button or go to the first "Family Stories" link on the left at the top of this area and click on the "New Thread" button to add your story. Either way it will be fine. Thanks a bunch, Annette

Hello: My stories are usually about me and something silly I have done and caused the kids great joy. My children were about 13 and 8, not really sure now. One morning the children were eating breakfast and they had forgotten a chore or something and I was not happy about it. Now I had on a favorite night gown and robe. It was old, ratty and should have been "retired." I also had my hair in curlers, so you should get a mental picture. So while they were eating, I was fussing at them and maybe giving a "lecture." In the middle of my lecture, my teeth came out and zoomed across the table. What could I do? My kids were trying not to laugh, and I couldn't help it, I burst out laughing, and so did the kids. We had a good laugh and I shut my mouth, and went to clean my teeth. They have never forgotten the incident. They wondered where the old ripped up gown was and I told them I would get it out again. They knew it was long gone. M.

Back in the 50's..Every one would walk to school with their brothers or sisters or just close friends...Now me and Jimmy Fleming were best buddies at the time...He was a few grades over me...It was a cold winter day with the ground covered in snow and the creeks frozen over...Jimmy...His sister Rosemary and myself decided to take a short cut...Well.. It sure wasn't a short cut but we didn't care...Our early morning short cut took us on an old mining sled path that started just down from short hollow and across the creek...Seams i remember Alan Hall and his sister living with their grandparents across the road where that old path started...One of us was daring the other so off we went....We went a ways really not knowing where it led us to.....Bye and bye we found out we had got ourselves in a real pickle...We would up at an old state dump left over from the mining days...The sled path ended right there with no way of going any further....EXCEPT.....Straight down the slate dump....All three of us knew it was to late to go back or we would have been more late than what we were about getting to the school on time...Now bear in mind that slate dump was pretty much snow and iced over and being as we were so young and small it seamed like it was the length of a football field going straight down into an iced over creek....We weren't going down that slate dump no matter what....Except....Rosemary decided to take matters in her own hands......I get a god awful good shove and over the edge i went...By instinct i was grabbing at any thing i could...And rosemary was still very much in reach...Well...Here we both go down that slate dump screaming for all we were worth and hanging on tight to one another......We had picked up so much speed that we didn't even break the ice and slid on our buts right on a cross it......The both of us had made it and survived by some great miracle......I CAN HONESTLY SAY IT WAS THE RIDE OF OUR LIVES...That left my best buddy Jimmy wayyyy up there on top of the slate dump...And the only way was straight down...After about 10 minutes of telling him it was ok and that we'd made it he decided to give it a try......I'm telling you the look on his face was unforgettable as he came down...you could have heard him screaming three miles away....But my buddy Jimmy just wasn't as lucky as me and his sister was..When he hit that ice books went one way and he went through it...Right into that cold water...I can't remember when or if we ever got to school that day...But we sure had a tale to tell ...I spent over 50 years trying to find my best buddy Jimmy and his family...Eventually i did find them with the help of Ella (dimples) Pawley from Sheas Fork in Mcroberts.....My old childhood buddy Jimmy Fleming had died the previous year...My heart was truly saddened...But i did find tow of his sisters...Rhonda and Rosemary....Rosemary had married another child of Sheas Fork ...David Caudill...NOW ALL THINGS HAS CAME TO PAST....AND I'M THE RICHER FOR IT....THANKS DIMPLES....YOUR A DOLL...
