Story was always handed down that my Dad's great uncle was killed during the Christmas Raid in Kentucky in 1862/63 but he was never seen or heard from again. Years after I heard the story I sent a letter to the McCreary County Record and asked if anybody knew anything. I received a copy of a roster from the 13th Kentucky Cavalry CSA that showed a Frank Pentecost had signed up in Spring Creek Tennessee that following Spring. My Dad's Great Uncle's name was Frank Pennycuff, I thought the coincidence was a little to close to not be him. Pennycuff and Pentecost would sound close if he had the same drawl that my kin does down home. It said in the roster that he was killed at Tupelo carrying the colors and was a corporal.
I have since lost this roster and when I looked at your roster I couldn't find anything about him. Am I off a mile? Thanks for any help, Rick Boyd rick_melissa@woh.rr.com
