I'm looking for information on how to find Cherokee families. My grandmother (who passed away in March) said her grandmother was part Cherokee indian.
Her grandmother's name was Isabelle Arminda Amburgey b. 1867 in Estill County. Isabelle Arminda's parents were: Robert Amburgey b. 1825 Russell County, Virginia Lettie Adams b. 1828 Letcher County, Kentucky I can't seem to find Lettie's parents anywhere. Any info would be appreciated..

Hi Tina, This is how I found my Cherokee roots. Go to footnote.com and type in Eastern Cherokee Claims Application. Look up the first and last name of the person. If any of your family applied for the claim in 1907. Then this will give you more info on tour family names and dates. I did and I opened up a new door of my Cherokee ancestors. Also there is root web it is free you can also start a family tree with allot of info.
